Lokmat Group of Newspapers has been involved with extending a helping hand to the poor and common man in period of natural disasters and tragedies. During the devastating floods in Mowad, earthquakes in Latur, Beed (Maharashtra), Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh), Bhuj (Gujarat) and Munger(Bihar), the group helped redress the sufferings of the distressed people by extending moral and financial assistance through the Lokmat Newspapers Charitable Trust.

The Lokmat Newspapers Charitable Trust constructed hostels for the children of Kargil war martyrs in Nagpur, Aurangabad and Solapur and extended financial help to the tune of Rs 1 Lakh each to 40 families of Kargil martyrs and Rs 10,000 each to 39 disabled jawans of Kargil war. After terror attacks in Mumbai on 26.11.2009, the Lokmat Newspapers Charitable Trust collected Rs 32,49,000 and donated it to 18 families of policemen who sacrificed their lives while fighting the terrorists.

Lokmat group has contributed to the rehabilitation of malnourished children in Melghat. Lokmat raised the issue of Vidarbha's agrarian crisis and that had resulted in the visit of Congress president, Mrs Sonia Gandhi, to Vidarbha to review and make a first-hand assessment of the situation there.
